The Middle: ‘Valentine’s Day’ Preview

It’s all about “Valentine’s Day” during the brand-new February 10 episode of The Middle with the same name.

The romantic holiday somehow still doesn’t go well for Frankie and Mike…

…although all three of their kids are out of sight for once: Axl is on a date, Brick is at a sleepover, and Sue is at a party.

The Middle airs Wednesdays on ABC at 8:30pm ET.

The Middle: ‘The Yelling’ Preview

There are no more new episodes of freshman sitcom The Middle scheduled for January, but the comedy returns with fresh installments next month, starting with the February 3 episode “The Yelling.”

Patricia Heaton

As the title hints, the action revolves around very loud voices.

Frankie makes a seemingly hopeless pact with her “lively” — to put it mildly — children: If they complete their homework and household chores without her having to force them to do so, she’ll stop constantly nagging and yelling at them. We’ll see about that.

Also, Frankie’s husband Mike teams up with her colleague Bob to deliver snack pastries on the night shift. I sense lots of tension and hilarity ahead for those two.

Sneak a peek at “The Yelling” in the Lesson preview below, which shows what happens when Frankie tries to improve her kids’ naughty behavior by making them watch a very unique video starring her and them. Poor Bob, stuck there on the sofa for the event.

The Middle airs Wednesdays on ABC at 8:30pm ET.

The Middle: January 6 Double Episode Preview

ABC has a special treat coming up for fans of the fantastic rookie sitcom The Middle, which stars Patricia Heaton. When the comedy returns for the winter season on January 6, viewers will get to watch two new back-to-back episodes. Woot!

Patricia Heaton

The first episode premiering at 8pm ET is called “The Jeans,” and it features daytime soap opera veteran Mandy Musgrave of Days of Our Lives as a guest star.

The senior Hecks must deal with their two teenagers when Sue decides she needs a cool pair of jeans to fit in with the cool crowd at school and Axl decides he wants a car so he can make a good impression on a girl he likes. Meanwhile, the couple also reluctantly lets Brick care for his aunts’ dog Doris in order to help him learn how to be responsible.

The second fresh episode is “The Neighbor” at 8:30pm, which features guest star Brooke Shields (Lipstick Jungle) as Rita Glossner, the Hecks’ slutty neighbor and Frankie’s rival. She becomes an issue after Sue has an encounter with her sons, which leads Frankie to worry that more trouble might be ahead. Meanwhile, Frankie’s own sons battle to out-bribe each other, and smart Brick eventually triumphs over his older brother Axl.

Sneak a peek at both episodes in the two preview clips below: Dog from “The Jeans” (Brick vows to take good care of his aunts’ dog … sort of) and Confrontation from “The Neighbor” (Mike and Rita get into it).

The Middle airs Wednesdays on ABC at 8:30pm ET.

The Middle: ‘Christmas’ Preview

The end-of-the-year holiday season is in full swing on The Middle’s brand-new December 9 episode appropriately titled “Christmas.”

Patricia Heaton

However, things are not as joyful as they could be for frazzled Frankie when she concludes that Mike is much better at preparing for Christmas than she is.

At least Frankie has a good excuse, though, namely her solo in the church’s midnight mass. Maybe she’ll just be thankful eventually that her husband loves her enough to pitch in and handle everything while she prepares for her big moment.

Sneak a peek at “Christmas” in the preview below, featuring an upset Frankie who wanted to do some fun stuff like her husband did.

The Middle airs Wednesdays on ABC at 8:30pm ET.

Next on ‘The Middle’: Siblings

Although the ABC comedies Modern Family and Cougar Town are taking the night off on December 2 with the respective repeats “Coal Digger” and “Into the Great Wide Open” (you can also catch an encore of Modern Family’s “Run for Your Wife” at 8pm ET), The Middle will still be in action with the fresh installment “Siblings.”

Patricia Heaton

Fortunately for us viewers, it’s all about the eccentric Heck offspring during the latest episode of Patricia Heaton’s consistently entertaining and funny new sitcom.

After she gets a whiff of what she considers the ideal siblings, super-brave Frankie takes on the impossible task of not only making her children stop fighting with each other, but also persuading them to treat each other as if they love one another dearly. Allow me: Good luck with that!

And while his wife is busy with their kids, Mike takes on an equally distressing decision: whether or not to give Aunt Edie (Jeanette Miller, ER) the boot at the quarry after she makes an expensive error.

The Middle airs Wednesdays on ABC at 8:30pm ET.

The Middle: ‘Thanksgiving’ Preview

As the title clearly indicates, the November 25 episode of ABC’s The Middle is all about “Thanksgiving.” How appropriate considering the holiday is the next day in the United States.

Patricia Heaton

So, what happens when Frankie dreams about having a perfect Turkey Day?

As fans can probably guess easily, exactly the opposite of what she wants happens. This year, Frankie’s plans for holiday peace are ruined when her boss Mr. Ehlert requires the entire staff at the car lot to work on Thanksgiving day.

Meanwhile, she and her husband Mike actually approve of their daughter Sue’s very first boyfriend, and Brick gets lost in a corn maize (can’t wait to find out how) while with Axl (maybe that explains it).

Check out two sneak peeks for “Thanksgiving” below. Frankie and Mike share the delight of meeting Sue’s new man in the first clip caled Boyfriend, and the Hecks attempt to sit together for a home meal in the second clip Dinner.

The Middle airs Wednesdays on ABC at 8:30pm ET.

The Middle: ‘The Scratch’ Preview

Frankie has some difficult work to do during the new November 18 episode of The Middle called “The Scratch.”

Patricia Heaton

It all starts with Frankie unintentionally whacking her youngest child Brick in the head with a beer bottle while trying to get the trash to a garbage truck in time.

Unfortunately, Brick shares this incident with a school official, which leads to a social worker visiting the Heck household and Frankie doing her darnedest to prove her family is perfect. Good luck with that!

Elsewhere, Bob and Mr. Ehlert film an advertisement for the car lot.

Sneak a peek at “The Scratch” in the following preview, which features the Hecks, minus Brick, answering the social worker’s biting questions. I love this show.

The Middle airs Wednesdays on ABC at 8:30pm ET.

Next on ‘The Middle’: The Front Door

Frankie’s already zany life gets a little more zany during The Middle’s brand-new November 4 episode “The Front Door.”

Patricia Heaton

While the Heck matriarch is forced to sell a car within seven days to avoid having to wear a dog suit outside of work (really!)…

Her non-photogenic daughter Sue prepares for picture day at school, and the Heck household becomes endangered when Mike insists that Axl fix the front door he accidentally damaged.

You know a long wait is in store when you give a teenage boy who refuses to wear clothes most of the time that much responsibility. Hope all of their stuff doesn’t get stolen.

The Middle airs Wednesdays on ABC at 8:30pm ET.

The Middle: ‘The Block Party’ Preview

Since ABC is preempting Hank with a holiday-appropriate broadcast of the Peanuts special “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” the Patricia Heaton comedy The Middle will kick off the network’s sitcom block on October 28 with the brand-new episode “The Block Party.”

Patricia Heaton

When Frank and Mike receive the news from a teacher that Brick is socially challenged…

Mike sets out to help his son by encouraging him to interact with people during activities like basketball. Although that doesn’t work, Mike unexpectedly realizes Brick is good at fixing mechanical stuff when Mike enters a lawnmower contest for the neighborhood block party.

And while Mike is busy with that, Frankie gets involved in the booster club to help Axl’s football team raise the money needed to buy new jerseys, but Axl isn’t willing to give up his old one.

Sneak a peek at the episode in the video below, which features Frankie, Brick, and Sue. How come there’s never any preview love for Axl?

The Middle airs Wednesdays on ABC at 8:30pm ET.
