Rita Rocks: “Born in The U.S.A’ Finale Photos

Lifetime’s sophomore comedy Rita Rocks closes Season Two on December 7 with the 10pm ET finale “Born in The U.S.A” (and, yes, there’s no period at the end for some reason).

A nice touch is guest star Duane Martin, the real-life husband of series regular Tisha Campbell-Martin, who reprises his role as Rita and Jay’s bass guitarist neighbor Chuck.

The sitcom’s second season closes with very pregnant Rita determined to perform at her garage band’s first continuing gig, although her unborn child has different plans. Check out a few preview finale photos below.

Next on ‘Rita Rocks’: Mother and Child Reunion, Anchors Aweigh

Coming up on Lifetime’s Rita Rocks are the two new November 9 episodes “Mother and Child Reunion” at 10pm ET and “Anchors Aweigh” at 10:30pm, both featuring guest star Swoosie Kurtz (Pushing Daisies).

Rita Rocks

During the first installment, Rita’s family receives a visit from her judgmental mom Marilyn (Kurtz), which prompts Rita to go all out cleaning and hiding “bad” food so as to escape criticism.

What is Rita to do then but suspect something’s up when her mother isn’t critical in the least?

Next on the second episode, Jay catches Marilyn flirting with a strange man who isn’t her husband right before he and Rita leave for a weekend trip, and Kip decides to earn some extra money for college by teaching Rita’s neighbor Jasper how to play the drums.

Next on ‘Rita Rocks’: Bad Company, Why Can’t We Be Friends?

Two new episodes of Lifetime’s Rita Rocks are coming up on November 2.

Rita Rocks

First at 10pm ET is “Bad Company.” When Patty’s son, a student at the University of Michigan, visits, Hallie decides to go to a college party without permission after he suggests she consider enrolling in college.

As a result, Rita and Patti, who are angry at one another after a botched audition, are forced to temporarily mend fences as they search for her.

Next at 10:30pm is “Why Can’t We Be Friends?.” While Hallie and Kip try to remain just friends following their breakup, Rita and Jay get into a difficult situation with the parents of Shannon’s new friend Brianna Boone.

All goes very, very well when they quickly establish a new friendship with Rob and Mindy Boone … until Shannon dashes their dreams of fun two-family vacations together after she informs them she never wants to hang out with Brianna again.

Rita Rocks airs Mondays on Lifetime at 10pm and 10:30pm ET.

New Episodes and Time Slot for ‘Rita Rocks’

Sophomore Lifetime comedy Rita Rocks moves to a new Monday-night time slot on October 26.

Rita Rocks

The sitcom previously aired on Tuesdays, following the new Sherri Shepherd comedy Sherri, but apparently the ratings weren’t so swell.

Maybe Rita Rocks will perform better on Mondays with back-to-back new episodes from 10pm to 11pm ET. Since the second season contains a total of 20 episodes, there are certainly enough installments to go around.

First up at 10pm on October 26 is “Mommy’s Alright, Daddy’s Alright,” featuring guest star Jennifer Elise Cox (10 Items or Less, Lovespring International). She plays Shannon’s teacher Miss Ricker, who tries to convince Rita and Jay to enroll their daughter in another school especially for academically gifted students. Elsewhere, Hallie participates in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer after Rita suggests she try volunteering to lift her mood.

Vogue” airs next at 10:30pm. Rita regrets arranging a fashion show, thanks to Hallie’s interest in fashion design, after she sees the unusual garment Hallie makes for her walk down the runway. Also, Jay overdoes it when he becomes Shannon’s coach for a cup-stacking competition.

Next on ‘Sherri’ & ‘Rita Rocks’: All in the Timing, Mr. Bassman

Coming up on Lifetime’s Sherri and Rita Rocks are the brand-new October 20 episodes “All in the Timing” and “Mr. Bassman,” respectively.

Rita Rocks

Opening the sitcom hour at 10pm ET is Sherri, followed by Rita Rocks at 10:30pm with very special guest star Duane Martin (All of Us, Out All Night), who just happens to be the real-life husband of series regular Tisha Campbell-Martin (pictured at far right above).

Mr. Martin plays Rita and Jay’s new neighbor Chuck. He immediately gets on their bad side, thanks to his penchant for playing loud music that keeps them up all night long.

Rita first tries to ask him nicely to cut it out by bringing him cookies, which doesn’t work. But when Rita discovers that Chuck plays the bass guitar, she ends up asking him to join her garage band, and that turns out to be a major mistake.

Wish I could provide as many details about the episode of Sherri, but Lifetime hasn’t released a description as of this writing. Better luck next week maybe.

Sherri and Rita Rocks air Tuesdays on Lifetime at 10pm and 10:30pm ET, respectively.

Next on ‘Sherri’ & ‘Rita Rocks’: Dating Dad, The Shape of Things to Come

The Lifetime original comedies Sherri and Rita Rocks finally move to their permanent Tuesday-night time slots on October 13.

Sherri

Sherri opens the hourlong sitcom block at 10pm ET with the new episode “Dating Dad.”

The title character gives up on dating entirely after she has an awful first date with Dr. Gregg (Michael Boatman, Spin City). But, fortunately, Redmond (James Avery, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air) steps in and gives Sherri a pep talk that encourages her to try dating again. Elsewhere, Angie confronts her boss’ daughter.

Rita Rocks follows at 10:30pm with the fresh installment “The Shape of Things to Come.” The Clemens clan holds a garage sale to get rid of their junk when Hallie decides to relocate to the attic so she won’t have to share a room with her newest sibling. Meanwhile, Jay inadvertently learns the baby’s gender after a nurse gets in touch to reschedule an appointment.

Sherri and Rita Rocks air Tuesdays on Lifetime at 10pm and 10:30pm ET, respectively.

Next on ‘Sherri’ & ‘Rita Rocks’: There’s No I in Church, Stuck in the Middle with You

Thank goodness we’ve finally reached the end of Lifetime’s sitcom premiere week, featuring new episodes of Sherri and Rita Rocks each and every weeknight. I don’t know about everybody else, but that’s a little too much TV for me.

Elizabeth Regen, Tammy Townsend, Sherri Shepherd/Sherri 1.01

Coming up on October 9 are the final fresh nightly episodes “There’s No I in Church” on Sherri and “Stuck in the Middle with You” on Rita Rocks.

At 7pm ET on Sherri, when an old friend asks Sherri out on a date after she talks about her single status during a standup routine, she decides to tell Dr. Gregg (guest star Michael Boatman of Arli$$ and Spin City) that she doesn’t want them to be an exclusive couple. Elsewhere, Donna refuses to sign Angie and Celia’s late time cards until she receives a makeover.

Next on Rita Rocks at 7:30pm, Rita tries to fix Patty up with one of Jay’s friends after the mail carrier has a string of bad dates. But Patty declines with the excuse that she’s not ready for a regular relationship. Of course, Rita takes the description the wrong way and attempts to prove that her marriage isn’t routine at all by taking Jay to a nightclub while Patty is there.

After the October 9 new episodes, Sherri will air Tuesdays on Lifetime time at 10pm ET and Rita Rocks immediately afterward at 10:30pm.

Next on ‘Sherri’ & ‘Rita Rocks’: Lost Weekend, Welcome to the Working Week

The October 8 episodes of Lifetime’s sitcoms Sherri and Rita Rocks are “Lost Weekend” and “Welcome to the Working Week,” respectively.

Tisha Campbell Martin, Nicole Sullivan/Rita Rocks 2.01

First at 7pm ET on Sherri’s “Lost Weekend,” the title character does her best to get used to the custody agreement when her son Bo spends his first weekend alone with Kevin. Even so, her girlfriends are forced to distract her when she fails and is unable to relax before she verifies for herself that Bo is okay without her.

Then at 7:30pm on Rita Rocks‘ “Welcome to the Working Week,” Rita and Patty give Owen a much-needed full-body makeover to help him apply for and land a job at Jay’s company, and Hallie tries to persuade Rita to kick Kip out of the band.

After the October 9 new episodes, Sherri will air Tuesdays on Lifetime time at 10pm ET and Rita Rocks immediately afterward at 10:30pm.
